Lily Allen is presenting her successful album ‘West End Girl’ (2025) live, in which she recounts the collapse of her marriage with actor David Harbour. The concert setup is theatrical and includes moments that are being especially commented on.
As if it weren’t enough that, in ‘4Chan Stan’, Allen tells in great detail the gifts that Harbor buys for his supposed secret girlfriend, the artist has decided to put all her effort into the live performance of this song, dressing up with the receipts for those gifts.
Allen acts wrapped in a large piece of carpet-like fabric that covers her body like a dress, on which are printed various receipts for purchases that Harbor would have made for that third woman, including a bag and a trip to Montauk. The singer suggests that she was asleep in London – a city to which she had traveled for work – while Harbor made these purchases through the joint account.
In the song, Allen compares Harbor to users of 4chan, a forum frequented by far-right youth, including incels. He calls him a “coward” for having been unfaithful and hiding it, and concludes that he is not even “cute” enough to allow himself such liberties.
The ‘West End Girl’ tour is being a success in terms of attendance, although critics have not yet given up on the proposal. The Guardian, for example, has rated the concert with 2 stars and has questioned the start of the show, in which an orchestra plays instrumental versions of Allen’s previous hits to contextualize the album.
The artist thus uses her own group as an opening act, dedicated to reviewing her previous repertoire, and appears on stage later to perform the ‘West End Girl’ songbook in its entirety and in order. Other media, such as The Independent, have supported the proposal. Allen will present ‘West End Girl’ in Spain this summer as part of the Bilbao BBK Live programme.
