Black Keys don’t give up and announce ‘Peaches!’

Despite the lack of impact of their last albums, Black Keys are going to release another album as soon as possible. No, they are not King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, but pay attention to the frequency. Between 2014 and 2019 they did not publish a studio album, but since then, they have released 6 albums in a period of less than 7 years.

If last year’s album was titled ‘No Rain, No Flowers’, this one is reminiscent of the hit by that 90s band called Presidents of the USA. His ‘Peaches!’ particular will be out on May 1st.

The presentation single is called ‘You Got to Lose’, it is well soaked in blues and its video consists of a surprise performance in Memphis.

This rush to release an album has a lot to do with his personal situation. The album is marked by Dan Auerbach’s father’s esophageal cancer: «We didn’t feel like we were recording an album. We just improvised, as if this were for us (…) It’s really primitive, recorded at a time when all the nerves were on edge, just screaming. We were going through a lot, trying to lift our spirits. “I think my father’s illness made me lose control and I just wanted to scream.”

Among the titles we find some more aggressive ones, like ‘Stop Arguing Over Me’ and others of devotion, like ‘Nobody But You Baby’.

01 Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire
02 Stop Arguing Over Me
03 Who’s Been Foolin’ You
04 It’s a Dream
05 Tomorrow Night
06 You Got to Lose
07 Tell Me You Love Me
08 She Does It Right
09 Fireman Ring the Bell
10 Nobody But You Baby
