Peter Gabriel will repeat the formula “i/o” (2023), during the year he will publish “Dark-Side” and “Bright-Side” mixes of all the songs from the new work, including this one “Been Undone”.
After publishing the album in 2023 “i/o”, Peter Gabriel will repeat the same formula and will publish a new album at the end of the year under the name “I heard”. As with their last album, there will be “Dark-Side” and “Bright-Side” mixes of all the songs released this year. Previews of the new album will be released every month, on every full moon. On this occasion, Chad Blake and Mark Stent They will once again be in charge of mixing duties. At the moment, the British artist has already released the first single, “Been Undone.”
This first mix of “Been Undone” belongs to the “Dark-Side Mix”. After this launch, Peter Gabriel has explained that “The songs are a mix of thoughts and feelings. I have been thinking about the future and how we might respond to it. We are slipping into a period of transition like no other, probably triggered in three waves: AI, quantum computing and the brain-computer interface. Artists have the role of peering through the fog and, when they glimpse something, holding up a mirror. These are my jagged bits: in ‘i/o’ the interior has a new exit and in ‘I heard’ the exterior has a new entrance”.
As with “i/o”each track on the new album will be accompanied by a cover that reproduces a work of art. “Been Undone” is accompanied by “Cyclotrama 156 (Palindrome)” from the artist Janaina Mello Landini. More details about the album’s release plans will be revealed at a later date, but assuming we have multiple physical formats later this year, “I heard” will be the fastest follow-up to a studio album by Peter Gabriel.
