Franz Ferdinand, Los Planetas, Hombres G or an Amaia that is on everyone’s lips today are some of the main names confirmed in the next edition of SanSan Festival, which will be held from April 17 to 19 in Benicàssim. The lineup is rich in interesting proposals that are very loved by different types of audiences, so we expand our review of its essential artists with the second part of the article that we published last September.
Ralphie Choo
Ralphie Choo has had a great 2024 for two reasons, firstly, he has collaborated with Rosalía on ‘Omega’ and, secondly, he has reached number 1 albums in Spain thanks to the release of the vinyl edition of ‘Supernova’, their debut album. In 2025, Juan Casado Fisac will continue presenting ‘Supernova’ live, guaranteeing a whirlwind concert.
Delaporte
“Techno heals” has been Delaporte’s great motto this year, explored in depth in his fun LP ‘Here and Now’. Delaporte’s techno stage will continue in SanSan, but beware, the duo of Sandra Delaporte and Sergio Salvi has announced a new album for next year.
Carlos Sadness
‘Magical Realism’ is the album that Carlos Sadness will present at SanSan. A work full of light, tenderness, diminutives and the tropical sounds that have defined the proposal of the Barcelona singer-songwriter. Surely his concert does not lack hits like ‘Everything was fine’ or ‘I love you a little’, which have led him to gain a considerable audience in Latin America.
Left-handed
The return of Nudozurdo, clearly one of the revelation guitar groups of the last decade and a half, has left another very good album to taste in their discography, ‘Clarividencia’, which you will like if you like Radiohead or Yo La Tengo. And pay attention because, from today, you can listen to the new EP by the Madrid band, ‘You can’t lose’, which includes the single ‘Brutalismán’ with Alondra Bentley.
Cala Vento
Cala Vento has been, for some time now, and thanks to great songs like ‘Isla Desierta’ or ‘Teletecho’, another of Spain’s outstanding rock groups, and their album ‘Casa Linda’, from 2023, has been their consecration. At SanSan, the duo of Joan Delgado and Aleix Turon will review their repertoire and, presumably, also that of their next covers album, ‘Brindis’, which comes out in mid-January.
Dear
Cariño has released her third album this year, ‘Tanto por siempre’, a work full of good choruses and diverse sounds that range from emo to j-pop. Above all, ‘So much to do’ has confirmed that the trio of Paola Rivero, Alicia Ros and María Talaverano continues to evolve, beyond labels, committed to doing what they do best, getting better and better.
Sound Depression
Depression Sonora’s career continues unstoppable after the release of their debut album, ‘The Art of Dying Very Slowly’, in 2022, and the EP ‘MAKINAVAJA’ in 2024. 4 signature songs that have once again been received with enthusiasm for the public.
Polish Girl
Polish Girl has surpassed herself in the last year, turning ‘Much Time With You’ into the biggest success of her career, above ‘Nora’. ‘Much time with you’ is just one of several pop-rock anthems included in this work produced by Guille Mostaza, who is in charge of producing the next reference from the Madrid-Alicante band.
Alba Morena
One of the breakout artists of 2023, Alba Morena has lately dared to update the song in one of her recent releases, ‘Yo te Quiero Pero’. While we are still waiting for her debut album, which Sonido Muchacho should release at some point, Morena has released the single ‘A tiempo’, which explores electronic textures and, finally, British breakbeat.
The Silver
Another key SanSan group that has released singles these days is La Plata. In ‘La vida real’, La Plata offers a sound indebted to alternative rock, not so much the post-punk that made them known on such good albums as ‘Acción direct’ (2022). Their latest release is the fantastic EP ‘Sueños’, close to the Crystal Castles sound. You absolutely cannot miss them if you like Alcalá Norte, Biznaga, VVV, etc.
