The San Sebastian band Noa & The Hell Drinkers He shows us in images the first single from his new album, released in mid-September.
For just over a month now you can taste the third album by the Gipuzkoan band Noa & The Hell Drinkers where, as we pointed out in the interview we recently published, “it opens its arms to a more inclusive vision of the different rhythms of black roots to express itself with equal solvency in angry landscapes as in the most sensitive ones.” Today we present the video clip of her first single, the song that gives its name to the album, “Hell’s the New Heaven”. The song, responsible for opening the album, perfectly defines the essence of the band in terms of sound, energy and theme of the lyrics, in which they invite everyone to let their hair go wild at a party in hell. The rhythmic base of the bass and drums stands out, guiding fans to hell.
The band was formed in Donostia-San Sebastián in 2016. In these years they have published two works independently (“Noa & The Hell Drinkers”2018; “Craft Blues”2020) and, in April, he recorded his third album,“Hell’s the new heaven.” The last year and a half has been frenetic, risky and full of changes for the Hell Drinkers, and that is reflected in their new album: always faithful to the character of the band but deeply influenced by their new direction, they take their “gunslinger blues” as the main ingredient and they experiment with other genres such as R&R, soul, gospel or funk. In the last year they have not stopped performing throughout Euskadi and the rest of the peninsula, highlighting their performances at festivals such as Bilbao Blues, Arrasate Blues, Burlada Blues, Frank Rock&Blues or those held in Cáceres and Santa Coloma de Gramanet, and in November they will do so at festivals in countries such as Germany, the Czech Republic and Switzerland.
The band has been recognized with first prize in the contest “European Blues Challenge” in Poland, and their new album has been selected by the UK Independent Blues Broadcasters Association as album of the month.
